PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Instructional Coach will provide support to teachers and school leadership, including principals and assistant principals, as they implement the RPS Curricula and Instructional Framework by guiding necessary changes to increase student engagement, improve student achievement, and build teacher capacity within our schools. The Instructional Coach sees him/herself as a change agent who believes in student-centered instruction, is committed to collaboration, and models continuous improvement in alignment with the District's vision.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
* Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
* Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
* Function in collaboration with the Curriculum Department to support the RPS 205 Instructional Framework by providing assistance and support with the implementation of a guaranteed and viable curriculum based on best practice research and in accordance with district guidelines.
* Coach teachers and teacher teams to identify teaching and learning needs, barriers and weaknesses by analyzing student data through the SMART process, and organizing and implementing problem-solving actions with teachers across all curricular areas.
* Actively participate in all required professional development, with the intent to develop his/her own skill and knowledge and to bring the benefits of the professional development to teachers and administrators. The instructional coach is charged with acquiring the knowledge, skills (including technology), and instructional strategies necessary to effectively impact the instructional practices of the teachers that are coached. He/she must remain knowledgeable about current and past research relevant to the coaching role.
This includes an annual Coach Academy during the summer months.
* Develop and facilitate high quality, job-embedded professional development that supports the Instructional Framework, applicable curriculum, data-driven instruction, and formative assessments. May include providing support for peer observations and learning between classrooms/sites.
* The Instructional Coach models integrity and humility. He/she builds and maintains confidential relationships with teachers through clear and courageous conversation and providing constructive feedback to foster self-awareness in others.
* Provide on-going assistance and support to teachers, utilizing the professional learning community platform and SMART learning processes.
* Assume any other duties as may from time to time be delegated by the supervisor, and the supervisor may make any adjustment in the scope of responsibilities as outlined above which will be in the interest of the school district and/or grant requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of five years of successful experience as a teacher. with an average evaluative rating of Proficient.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and Illinois State Board of Education
Professional Educator License registered in Winnebago county
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrable proficiency in the following: a variety of research-based techniques/programs, facilitating groups and working with adult learners in the administration and analysis of assessments and the use of data to guide instructional practice and intervention, common technology platforms, a growth mindset.
