Purpose of the Position

The teacher understands central concepts, methods of inquiry, and structures of disciplines and creates learning experiences that make the content meaningful to all students.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure actions align with Board policies and strategic plan.
  • Participate in job training and professional growth opportunities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure an efficient work environment.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Engage students in an inquiry-based delivery model of instruction.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for educational activities.
  • Use a wide range of instructional strategies and technologies to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Consider equitable resources and instructional practices.
  • Update and maintain all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies, and school regulations.
  • Create and maintain a safe learning environment for all students.
  • Demonstrate effective behavior management techniques appropriate to all students, including those with disabilities.
  • Maintain discipline according to building expectations and the district’s student code of conduct.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding progress and needs.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
  • Create formative assessments aligned to district curriculum.
  • Analyze student data from formative and summative assessments to drive differentiated instruction and data-based decision making.
  • Utilize current technology to enhance student learning.
Qualifications
  • Illinois Teaching License with appropriate endorsements and certifications.
  • Ability to demonstrate qualities aligned to the district’s core values of Character, Communication, Collaboration, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all school stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop relationships with students and parents.
  • Knowledge of various instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of best teaching and assessing practices.
  • Working knowledge of State and National Standards.
  • Ability to organize and maintain student records, including grade books.

Working Conditions

Moderate in‑district travel, intermittent in‑state and out‑of‑state travel, prolonged and irregular hours of work.
