Salary:
The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $120,000 to $165,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.

Position Summary

The position is shared between the University of Illinois College of Medicine and Retzky College of Pharmacy at Rockford, with faculty appointments in both the Department of Health Sciences Education and Pharmacy Practice. The faculty member will teach medical and pharmacy students in the classroom and will serve as a course director for a foundational integrated course within the College of Medicine.

They will be part of the Office of Experiential Education within the Department of Pharmacy Practice in the College of Pharmacy, primarily teaching in pharmacy skills labs. They will work with a variety of faculty to design and implement the curriculum of both Colleges.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Developing teaching material for medical pharmacology content that incorporates clinically relevant principles. Must be able to teach pharmacology and pharmacy skills lab at a level relevant to didactic medical and pharmacy students, respectively.

* Teaching using multiple methods of pedagogy, including case-based instruction, large- and small-group discussion, lecture, demonstration, simulation, and team-based learning.

* Using the optimal instructional techniques for content delivery in person and online, including the use of educational modules, videos, virtual reality, and other modalities promoting interactive learning.

* Working collaboratively with faculty from other departments and campuses to implement curriculum, including course schedules, materials, and exams. Participating in the pharmacology discipline team to create new content and revise content to optimize learning outcomes.

* Serve as a director for an integrated medical school pre-clinical as well as coordinator of a pharmacy school skills course(s).

* Responding to student and peer evaluations of individual teaching and course content and participating in creation of course reports as part of continuous quality improvement.

* Developing various formative and summative assessment tools, including NBME/NAPLEX-style multiple choice questions.

* Participating in faculty development programs to enhance teaching and educational skills of faculty within and outside the department. Where appropriate, the ideal candidate may lead faculty development activities.

* Engaging in educational scholarship focusing on the department and academic-related services.

* Providing relevant academic service on local and College-wide committees.

* Participating in the Department of Health Sciences Education and Pharmacy Practice faculty meetings.

* Participating in the broader educational programming offered by the Department of Health Sciences Education and Pharmacy Practice.

* Serving as a preceptor for student pharmacists and PGY1/PGY2 residents on academic rotation.

* Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

* Pharm

D degree from an ACPE accredited College/School of Pharmacy

* Evidence of Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist is required by start date

* Completion of a PGY1 residency or equivalent experience by the time of hire
