The Teacher understands the central concepts, methods of inquiry, and structures of disciplines and creates learning experiences that make the content meaningful to all students.
Supervisory responsibilities are not applicable.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Planning, preparing, and delivering instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
- Engaging students in an inquiry-based delivery model of instruction
- Providing a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
- Using a wide range of instructional strategies and technologies to meet and enhance the needs of a diverse student population
- Updating and maintaining all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies, and school regulations
- Creating and maintaining a safe learning environment for all students
- Demonstrating a variety of effective behavior management techniques appropriate to the needs of all students, including those with disabilities
- Maintaining discipline in accordance with building expectations as well as the district's student code of conduct
- Communicating necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
- Participating in Professional Learning Communities (PLC)
- Creating formative assessments aligned to district curriculum
- Analyzing student data from both formative and summative assessments to drive differentiated instruction and data-based decision making for students
- Utilizing current technology to enhance student learning
- Illinois Teaching License with appropriate endorsements and certifications
- Ability to demonstrate qualities aligned to core values of Character, Communication, Collaboration, and Continuous Improvement
- Ability to effectively communicate with all school stakeholders
- Ability to develop relationships with students and parents
- Knowledge of various instructional strategies and techniques
- Knowledge of best teaching and assessing practices
- Working knowledge of State and National Standards
- Ability to organize and maintain student records which includes grade books
- Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel
