Position Overview
Job Title:
School Counselor (Full‑Time)
Location:
Providence Catholic High School, New Lenox, IL
Providence Catholic High School is seeking a full‑time School Counselor for the 2026–27 school year. Experience with college/career counseling preferred.
Responsibilities- Establish and strengthen relationships with a caseload of students through individual and group counseling sessions
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment, encouraging students to explore post‑secondary options and pursue academic and career goals
- Provide personalized college counseling to students and assist them in navigating the college application process
- Guide students in researching and selecting suitable colleges and universities based on academic, extracurricular, and personal interests
- Provide continued evaluation of students' academic progress while advising them on educational planning
- Deliver counseling curriculum presentations in small group, classroom, and large group formats
- Assist with coordination of standardized testing
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and staff on student matters such as academic progress, attendance, and social/emotional development
- Foster strong partnerships with parents, rooted in frequent and effective communication
- Coordinate academic services for students experiencing prolonged absences from school due to medical or mental health reasons
- Attend various evening presentations hosted by the Counseling staff
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Counseling

- Master’s Degree required
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License with Type 73 School Counselor endorsement required
- DCFS Mandated Reporter Certificate (may be completed after hire)
- Diocese of Joliet Protecting God’s Children certificate (may be completed after hire)
- Diocese of Joliet Fingerprinting & Background Check (may be completed after hire)
- Work‑Physical/Statement of Health from Physician (may be completed after hire)
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, feel with hands, reach with arms, walk up or down multiple flights of stairs, and be physically able to lift up to 20–30 pounds if needed. Works in standard office and school building environments but also has ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
Salary$44,761–$47,763 (Lane 3/Year 1 – Lane 5/Year 1); based on education and experience.
