Job OverviewWe are seeking a passionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team in Grayslake, Illinois. The successful candidate will deliver customized instruction and support to students with special needs, helping them to achieve their educational goals. This role involves collaborating with general education teachers, parents, and other support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Responsibilities- Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.
- Provide direct and indirect instructional support in an inclusive and positive classroom environment.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies to cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Modify curriculum and teaching techniques to suit different learning styles.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular updates to parents and staff.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, school counselors, and other support personnel to ensure prehensive student support.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of students' progress and achievements.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in special education.
- Participate in school events and activities to promote a supportive and inclusive school culture.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Certification: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Special Education (LBS1).
- Experience: Previous experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with federal and state special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and Section 504.
- Skills: Excellent munication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to design and implement effective teaching strategies for diverse learners.
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL): Candidates must hold a valid PEL issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Endorsement in Special Education (LBS1): Candidates must have the Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) endorsement.
- Additional
Certifications:
CPR and First Aid certification are preferred but not mandatory.
