Position: Bilingual Tutor - Full Time 9 Months 5.5 hours/day

Bilingual Tutor - Full Time 9 Months

The Instructional Tutor's primary responsibility is to work individually and with groups of students under the direct supervision of and in close proximity to a certified teacher.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.

Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

Implement teacher-planned activities for individuals and small groups of students in the academic areas of math, reading, and writing utilizing other languages if necessary.

Tutoring individuals or groups of students in reading, writing, and math utilizing hands-on, activity-based learning as well as other strategies based upon differing student learning styles to more effectively engage students.

Communicate regularly with the teacher regarding daily plans and any observations.

Help monitor student achievement and instructional needs of the students in the areas of reading, writing, and math by reviewing and utilizing school data.

Participate in in-service opportunities to keep current in best practices.

High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and other languages.

Ability to demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
