The principal serves as a ministerial employee and administrator, supporting the Catholic Church and its values throughout their personal and professional lives. By example and leadership, they strengthen the Catholic education mission, embodying the Church’s teachings.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Serves as guardian of the Catholic culture in the school.
- Acts as servant leader responsible for school administration, implementing Diocesan and local policies.
- Possesses knowledge of Catholic microschooling and multi‑age learning communities.
- Maintains commitment to Universal Design for Learning, standards‑based planning, assessment, grading, and whole‑child education.
- Develops and participates in ongoing programs for staff’s religious and professional growth.
- Hires qualified teachers and provides effective leadership.
- Supports teachers in achieving Catholic education goals through supervision and classroom visitation.
- Fosters effective communication with parents, parish community, and stakeholders to promote goodwill.
- Attends diocesan meetings and maintains professional educator licensure.
- Sends required reports to the Catholic Schools Office and other appropriate agencies.
- Maintains current student and school records.
- Develops the school budget with the parish/school business or finance manager.
- Serves as ex‑officio member of the local school board.
- Provides frequent reports to the pastor, local board, and parents on progress of the school, its activities, and students, ensuring building maintenance and health, safety, and well‑being of stakeholders.
- Accepts and completes other duties assigned by the pastor.
- Practicing Catholic committed to nurturing Catholic culture.
- Master’s degree in education from an accredited institution, with emphasis or endorsement in administration, supervision, educational leadership, or curriculum.
- Current Illinois administrative licensure (Illinois Professional Educator License with either a General Administrative (Type 75) or a Principal Endorsement) or enrollment in an accredited program.
- Danielson‑trained per Illinois State Certification Requirements.
- At least three to five years of teaching and leadership experience, preferably in a Catholic school, with broad exposure to preschool through grade eight structure in a Catholic microschool.
- Experience as spiritual and educational leader in a Catholic elementary school is preferred.
The employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, use hands, reach with arms, walk up or down stairs, lift up to 20‑30 pounds, and perform other duties as needed in standard office and school building environments, including outdoor student activities.
Annual Salary Range$54,490 - $103,037 (final salary determined by teaching experience and education).
