Children can attend Maroa-Forsyth Schools even if they live outside the district, as long as the parent or guardian is a full-time employee.
DutiesTo develop in each pupil an appreciation of the art of music as part of general culture; to teach techniques of vocal or instrumental music expression; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the field of music; to develop knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music.
Teaches music appreciation, harmony, vocal and instrumental music, and choral performance using age-appropriate instructional strategies.
Plans and organizes a balanced music program that maximizes instructional, rehearsal, and performance time.
Provides whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
Fosters a classroom environment that promotes the love of music
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior that promote a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
Assesses student musical growth, performance, and participation, and communicates progress with parents and school counselors.
Plans, rehearses, and directs musical performances and programs for school
Selects, inventories, maintains, and safeguards instructional materials, musical instruments, and other district-owned equipment; requests repairs as needed.
Collaborates with colleagues and families to identify and address students' academic, behavioral, health, and social-emotional needs.
Assists with musical support for school productions, graduation ceremonies, and other district or community functions as needed
Supervises students during assigned school activities and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an endorsement in K-5 music for the grade level.
