English as a Second Language Instructor

The Adult Education and Literacy Department is seeking English as a Second Language Instructors. Duties include instructing adult ESL students in classes and learning experiences which will lead to the achievement of their educational and personal goals, creating lesson plans that follow the curriculum, completing student and departmental records, evaluating and documenting student progress, using appropriate texts and teaching materials, attending and participating in conferences related to teaching area, attending program meetings and staff development activities, assisting students in the proper use of classroom equipment where appropriate, showing tolerance and flexibility in dealing with persons from disadvantaged social, economic and educational backgrounds, and showing respect for cultural differences.

Interested individuals must have the minimum of a Bachelor's degree and knowledge of basic computer skills. Experience teaching adults as well as working with ESL student populations is preferred.
