We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist to join a supportive school district in Plainfield, Illinois for the school year
. This full-time opportunity focuses on an elementary caseload
, helping students with visual impairments develop the mobility and independence skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.

• Provide direct Orientation & Mobility services to students with visual impairments in accordance with their IEPs
• Conduct O&M assessments and contribute to evaluation reports
• Develop individualized mobility goals and instructional plans
• Teach safe travel skills in school, home, and community environments as appropriate
• Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to support student progress
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings
• Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education guidelines

• Certification as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS)
• Experience working with school-aged students
• Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with multidisciplinary teams
