We are seeking a Sourcing Engineer (Electrical Engineer), with an opportunity to have a significant impact on the business contributing to Sustaining materials and New Product Development (NPD). Professional collaboration, agility, effective time‑management, organization skills and project management fundamentals will assist you in your success. This role, based Elyria, OH, will collaborate globally with Commodity Management Teams, Developmental Engineers, Suppliers and other Emerson professionals dedicated to revolutionizing the industry!
InThis Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Drive sourcing decisions for NPD projects: supplier selection, RFQ, costed BOM ownership, PPAP, and risk mitigation.
- Partner with suppliers to optimize design for manufacturability (DFMA) and ensure compliance with quality and environmental standards.
- Manage purchased material sourcing projects, including cost modeling and Cap Ex.
- Communicate supply chain status and risks to stakeholders; lead sourcing reviews.
- Support component sourcing, substitutions, and secure materials for launch.

- You effectively communicate in various settings: one‑on‑one, small and large groups, or among diverse styles and position levels.
- You persist in accomplishing objectives despite obstacles and setbacks.

- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related field with 3–5 years experience in sourcing, supply chain, or electrical/electronic manufacturing.
- Knowledge of PCBA fabrication, BOM management, and quality processes (PPAP, SPC).
- Strong project management, communication, and MS Office skills.
- Familiarity with IPC/IEEE standards and supplier collaboration.
- Experience with cost reduction initiatives.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes concerning surface mount technologies, PCBA manufacturing and associated quality measures (FAT, EOL, AOI), injection molding, wiring harnesses, and electronic material assembly (Box Builds).
- Knowledge and experience in leading component technical drawing reviews.
- Knowledge and or direct experience of supply chain operations; RFQ, supplier selection / assessment / performance measurement, negotiation experience, supplier collaboration.

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $91,300-$115,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
