Hourly Wage: $18.00
NATURE OF WORK
Assist the Engineering Division in the collection of information for roadway, water main, and drainage design; GIS data collection; storm water quality; the layout, inspection and measurement of construction project; as well as right-of-way inspection.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
Work involves general labor and the use of landscaping tools (i.e., hedge trimmer and string trimmer). Work also involves data entry into software programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (These essential duties are only illustrative.)
Collection of data in the field and entering of that data into various database systems.
Assist in field survey for the design of roadway, water, and drainage projects.
Construction layout and inspection.
Measurement and documentation of construction items.
Assist in right-of-way inspection for permit compliance.
Preparation of reports and activities required for Clean Water Act Permit compliance.
Perform field-testing of stormwater and the collection of data for permit compliance.
Development of programs to promote clean storm water as required by IEPA permit.
Maintain reasonable and predictable attendance.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is performed under the direction of the Engineering Division Managers. The employee must be capable of prioritizing a variety of duties and communicate effectively with the other employees in the Engineering Division. Work is reviewed through observation of work performance and adherence to policies and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work will be outside in the proximity of traffic and on construction sites. The ability to be physically mobile on construction projects and in drainage areas is needed. Work in an office environment will also be necessary.

Ability to work both inside and outside.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Enrollment in an academic program through an accredited institution, Engineering, Geography or a science related field preferred but not required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid IL Driver's License as needed by the position.
Must be at least 17 years of age to apply, and 18 years or older at the time of hire.
