Design​/Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview

RCE Equipment Solutions is located in Rockford, IL and specializes in railroad construction equipment and rail‑related products. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team of innovators, designing new rail construction equipment and improving existing products.

• Collaborate with the engineering team to design and develop new rail construction equipment and tools.
• Improve and optimize existing products, applying creativity and engineering expertise.
• Use AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop or Inventor – experience required.
• Work hands‑on with the in‑house manufacturing team to ensure designs are produced accurately.
• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting, ensuring customers experience smooth operations.

• Experience in an engineering‑related work environment with a passion for designing equipment.
• Five years of experience strongly preferred; design experience in rail or heavy equipment industry a plus.
• Problem‑solver mindset with a love for new challenges and improving designs.
• Strong collaboration skills – a team player who turns ideas into reality.
• Capability to write operation manuals and service bulletins.
• Helpful knowledge areas: machining and fabrication operations for weldments, construction equipment operation and capabilities, hydraulic and electrical systems.

• Competitive Pay:
  Earn $70,000–$100,000+ per year (depending on experience).
