The Senior Estimator role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Chicago Area. This role is responsible for reviewing project plans, specifications, and customer requirements to prepare accurate material takeoffs and cost estimates for wire mesh partition systems and related products. The Senior Estimator collaborates closely with sales, engineering, and production teams to clarify scope, determine pricing, and support the preparation of competitive bids and proposals.
Day-to-day tasks include analyzing drawings, generating quotations, updating pricing databases, and tracking estimate status through the project lifecycle. The role also involves communicating with customers and vendors to obtain pricing, clarify technical details, and ensure estimates align with project timelines and company margins.
- Strong estimating and analytical skills, including experience reviewing drawings, performing takeoffs, and preparing detailed cost estimates for construction, manufacturing, or similar industries.
- Technical aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings, with the ability to translate project requirements into material lists and labor assumptions.
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and standard office applications; comfort working with numerical data, pricing structures, and cost databases.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with sales, engineering, production, vendors, and customers in a clear, professional, and solutions-oriented manner.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including prioritizing multiple bids, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Relevant experience in metal fabrication, wire mesh products, construction specialties, or industrial products is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in the Greater Chicago Area and contribute to a team-focused, safety-conscious manufacturing environment.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and estimating experience.
