Overview
Product Support Engineer for Ram Air Turbine (RAT) systems. Onsite in Rockford, IL. You will troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to improve products and ensure aerospace hardware performs at its best. This role supports production, test, and field-related activities to keep mission-critical systems reliable.
What You Will Do- Provide operations support for production of RAT systems, including air-driven turbines, angle gearboxes, hydraulic pumps, and linear hydraulic actuators with locking/release mechanisms.
- Provide manufacturing support to suppliers and Collins’ production sites to resolve issues impacting hardware producibility, quality, and yield.
- Investigate electro-mechanical and hydro-mechanical hardware acceptance test failures and production issues to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
- Collaborate with plant sites and suppliers to implement solutions and improve manufacturing performance.
- Participate in product development activities including cost estimates, standard specifications, drawing layouts, and performance or maintenance requirements.
- Lead and support PFMEA and DFMEA reviews.
You Must Have: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.
Qualifications We Prefer- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience analyzing mechanical rotating hardware and complex mechanical systems.
- Experience resolving hardware manufacturing, operational, and test-related issues.
- Experience supporting product/component development and qualification testing, including performance and environmental testing.
- Understanding of electric machines and rotating mechanical hardware.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams.

Role type and interview process:
Onsite roles may require in-person interview steps at one of our office locations. The salary range for this role is $68,900 – $131,100. This range is a good-faith estimate and may vary by experience, location, and business needs.
