We are looking for a Designer/Analyst to support the Safran Actuation Systems Business who is a team player with a high level of initiative and the ability to work in an environment of rapidly changing priorities designing and analyzing complex aerospace product. The role defined here combines two key areas of expertise, product design and product analysis, and the successful applicant will have the skills and flexibility to support both roles.
As a designer, you will work directly with engineering staff to produce 3-D models and 2-D layout drawings of the product to meet both engineering and customer requirements. When analyzing a design, you will create tolerance build ups to support hardware functionality and drawing creation, ensuring the model and drawings accurately define a manufacturable product.
- Create 3-D product models, outlines, and layouts.
- Create Proposal Envelope Solids in customer preferred formats.
- Work with engineering for initial 2D concept of product.
- Create solid model piece parts and housings in NX, support the move towards Model-Based Definition, direct to manufacture.
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure correct fit and alignment
- Create assemblies in NX and manage the Bill of Materials.
- Create Layout and Balloon Sheets. Create Layout Parts List.
- Create dimensioned detail component drawings for high complexity piece parts.
- Check drawings for accuracy, correct GD&T, and compliance to company / industry standards
- Execute Standard Work using Design Standard Features and Design Guidebook as appropriate to complete the task.
- Investigate and improve, with engineering, current product design issues.
- Support and participate in engineering design reviews
- Support stress and thermal analyses as required and as directed by engineering.
- Work with Safran product definition and engineering support groups and coordinate assistance as required.
- Detailing tasks associated with the completion of component drawings for a design project.
- Ensure proper filing, control, and export classification of created design data
- Status team regularly on task performance.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree and 7 years of prior relevant experience OR
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required
- Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter in the design of rotating machinery
- Manufacturing and Model Based Design experience
- Structured problem-solving and analytical capability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in evolving, high-visibility environments.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to work in a stationary position and frequently operates on a computer and standard office equipment. This role may require occasional movement within office and laboratory environments. The employee must be able to communicate effectively and exchange accurate information. Visual acuity sufficient to review documents and assess detailed information at close range is required.
The position may occasionally require lifting or moving items up to 10 pounds. The employee must be able to meet the physical requirements necessary for domestic and, as required, international travel.
