Overview
Overview: Third Road Management (TRM) seeks a Client Integration Lead who will serve as the primary point of contact for new clients from initial engagement through onboarding. You’ll lead end-to-end onboarding, integration, and finance transformation for small to mid-sized organizations, translating their current accounting processes into a clear plan, closing gaps in controls and compliance, and coordinating the TRM and client teams to stabilize operations quickly.
The ideal candidate blends deep accounting know-how with a client-service mindset, exceptional problem solving, and strong project leadership across multiple concurrent engagements.
Third Road Management, a pioneer in the booming fractional services industry with a nationwide presence, was established in 2015 with a singular mission: to revolutionize how small to mid-sized organizations view and manage their financial operations. Across the nation, there are over one million organizations generating revenues under $200 million that lack the essential strategic, financial, and operational expertise needed to establish a sustainable and scalable foundation.
Third Road Management addresses this challenge by offering a re-imagined CFO suite, featuring some of the most skilled CFOs, Controllers, and Accountants available in the market.
Client Discovery & Relationship
- Serve as the primary point of contact during onboarding; set tone, expectations, and cadence.
- Run discovery workshops and walkthroughs of existing processes.
- Document current-state workflows, systems, and roles; map to desired future state.
Controls, Compliance & Remediation
- Assess internal control frameworks (segregation of duties, reconciliations, approvals, access, audit trails); identify deficiencies.
- Design right-sized control structures and close calendars aligned to GAAP and client profile.
- Diagnose and triage backlogs (e.g., unreconciled accounts, AP/AR aging issues, revenue recognition, capitalization, accruals, GAAP compliance) and create clear remediation workplans.
Project Management & Execution
- Build and own onboarding project plans with milestones, RACI, risks, and dependencies across multiple clients simultaneously.
- Coordinate day-to-day execution with TRM Controllers, Senior Accountants, Payroll, and FP&A; direct client team activities to hit target dates.
- Stand up month-end close playbooks, checklists, and KPI dashboards (e.g., days to close, reconciliation completion, aged items cleared, control adoption).
- Facilitate data migration and system enablement (GL, AP, AR, banking feeds, expense, payroll).
- Ensure a seamless handoff to the ongoing client delivery team, including a formal transition meeting, updated RACI/roles, finalized SOPs and control matrices, system/access readiness, and operational KPI baselines.
- Education: Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA preferred (active or inactive).
- Experience: 6–10+ years in accounting/finance with hands-on process/controls work; 3+ years leading multi-workstream projects or client onboarding/implementation in a professional services or outsourced environment. Experience at a large consulting, audit, or outsourcing firm is highly valued.
- Accounting & Controls: Strong command of GAAP; comfort diagnosing reconciliation issues, close bottlenecks, and control gaps; audit or SOX-style testing exposure a plus.
- Systems: Proficiency with mid-market ERPs and adjacent tools (e.g., Net Suite, Business Central, Sage Intacct, Quick Books Online, bill pay/expense platforms, payroll). Able to operate across multiple client systems concurrently.
- Project Leadership: Proven ability to scope, prioritize, and deliver multiple engagements simultaneously; expert at turning ambiguity into structured plans.
- Problem Solving: Analytical, persistent, and creative—able to quickly assess, propose options, and drive resolution. Enjoys bringing order to chaos.
- Collaboration & Communication: Clear, concise communicator who builds trust fast; comfortable directing TRM and client teams.
- Travel: Ability to routinely visit client sites across the Chicagoland area. Rare out-of-town travel may be required.
Third Road Management embodies a culture that provides unmatched flexibility, empowerment and balance while delivering deep expertise and excellence for our clients.
