Credit Underwriter (C&I​/CRE

An established, fully independent community bank in the Chicago suburbs is growing its Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and CRE lending team, with a focus on industrial, industrial equipment, and office-secured deals. You'll own the full credit lifecycle — underwriting through ongoing portfolio monitoring — working directly with business owners and senior bank leadership.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite C&I and CRE loans (industrial, industrial equipment, office) — spreading and analyzing borrower financials to assess creditworthiness and cash flow
• Produce credit memos and recommendations on new loans, renewals, and amendments for SME borrowers
• Evaluate collateral, guarantor support, and global cash flow
• Conduct ongoing portfolio monitoring — annual/quarterly reviews, covenant compliance, re-underwriting
• Meet directly with business owners and support RMs through the credit process (non-origination)

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of hands-on C&I and/or CRE underwriting experience at a bank — not corporate FP&A or general lending exposure without underwriting
• Strong financial statement and cash flow analysis skills
• SBA (7a, 504) and nCino experience a plus, not required
