- Maintain an independent, current and forward-looking view of client creditworthiness
- Perform ongoing monitoring and periodic deal reviews; approve or recommend renewal, modification or exit decisions
- Analyze historical financials and projections for risk ratings and emerging credit issues
- Manage underwriting, approval and documentation for new money, renewals, extensions, amendments, waivers and ancillary products
- Review and recommend credit decisions and perform final risk rating analysis
- Interpret credit policy and escape non-standard or higher-risk requests
- Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory guidelines and documentation standards
- Manage a larger, more complex portfolio, including higher-risk, lead bank and high-touch client relationships
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers and Credit Risk as an active coverage-team member
- Meet prospects and clients as needed and lead diligence discussions
- Provide guidance on deal structures, pricing and risk mitigation strategies
- Create and deliver portfolio performance reports and presentations for senior management
- Ensure accuracy of system records and electronic credit files
- Participate in senior-level team meetings and contribute to portfolio themes, risk trends and process improvements
- Lead or participate in special projects and strategic initiatives
- Review junior team members’ work product and provide coaching and feedback
- May directly supervise and direct junior portfolio management team members
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in commercial banking, portfolio management, underwriting or a related discipline
- Subject matter expert-level understanding of accounting, credit analysis, portfolio management, structuring, underwriting, and legal documentation
- Strong risk judgment with demonstrated ability to manage complex and higher-risk portfolios
- Experience providing guidance, coaching, or review of junior staff work is preferred but not required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with business and risk partners
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, complex transactions, and strategic initiatives while meeting deadlines
Demonstrates expertise in credit analysis, portfolio management, and underwriting, with a strong focus on risk assessment and compliance with regulatory guidelines. Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex portfolios, and deliver strategic insights to senior management.
