The Village of Montgomery, IL is accepting applications for a part-time Support Services FOIA Officer in the Police Department.
The Village of Montgomery prides itself on providing professional, high-quality and responsive municipal services with a strong emphasis on safety and customer service. The Support Services FOIA Officer is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and responding to public records requests in compliance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. Work is performed in a fast-paced environment with strict statutory deadlines and requires coordination with multiple divisions within the police department.
The Village is seeking a highly organized team player with strong interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will have the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent and 2-3 years of law enforcement records/administrative experience.
- FOIA Officer certification, or the ability to obtain within two weeks of hire.
- Current LEADS certification, or the ability to obtain within two weeks of hire.
- Strong knowledge of FOIA law and the ability to interpret and apply statutory exemptions.
- Ability to review detailed police records, digital evidence, and confidential information with high accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with the public, attorneys, media, insurance companies, and outside agencies.
- Intermediate-level experience with MS Word, Excel, and Adobe Pro.
- Proficiency with records management systems, digital evidence systems, and redaction software.
- Ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Ability to learn and follow departmental policies, procedures, and applicable laws, and terminology.
Hours of Work:
- Monday – Friday, 4 hours daily to be scheduled between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.
Starting pay:
- $27.50 per hour
This position will remain open until filled.
