Job Title: MRI Technologist
Location: Rockford, IL
Facility: Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside Campus
Schedule: 40 Hours Per Week

• May require occasional weekends
• On-call rotation required
• Holiday rotation required

Shift Options Available:

• 5x8s: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• 4x10s: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• 3x12s: 8:00 AM – 8:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 9:30 PM

The MRI Technologist performs MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. This role requires flexibility with scheduling, including alternate shifts, weekends, and on-call coverage as needed to support departmental operations.

The technologist works as part of a multidisciplinary team and may participate in committees and departmental projects.

• Perform MRI exams under the order of a licensed medical practitioner
• Prepare and educate patients to ensure cooperation and minimize anxiety
• Apply MRI safety principles to protect patients and staff
• Select and operate MRI systems, coils, and associated equipment
• Position and immobilize patients appropriately
• Select pulse sequences per established protocols
• Perform venipuncture and administer contrast media
• Verify consent and screening documentation
• Assist physicians with interventional procedures
• Evaluate images for technical quality and reconstruct digital data
• Document procedures in RIS/PACS and submit images for interpretation
• Initiate BLS when necessary
• Provide instruction to students and team members

• Graduate of an accredited Radiography program
• Prior experience as an MRI Technologist required

• ARRT Radiography (R) registration required
• ARRT MRI (MR) registration required
• Approved CPR or BLS certification required
