Job Title: MRI Technologist

Job Description:

Performs MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekends and call as necessary to provide quality patient care at assigned site(s). May be required to flex hours/shift as needed to support the needs of the department. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, serving on committees and participating in projects as requested.

Responsibilities:

• Performs procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation.
• Prepares patient for procedures and provides patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
• Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others.
• Selects and operates the magnetic resonance system and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
• Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety and comfort.
• Performs venipuncture, starts and maintains venous access, and prepares and administers contrast media.
• Assists the physician with interventional procedures.
• Evaluates images and data for technical quality and manipulates and reconstructs digital data for display.
• Uses radiology information systems, completes all required records and reports, and initiates basic life support action when necessary.
• Provides practical instruction to partners and students.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
• Experience as an MRI Technologist.
• ARRT Radiography registration required.
• ARRT MRI registration required.
• Approved CPR or BLS certification required.
