Human Resources Director

Rate is one of the largest mortgage lenders in the country, and we move fast. We're hiring a Director of Human Resources to help lead HR operations and employee relations work, and to build the HR Business Partner team that supports our people every day.

The foundation is already in place. Your job is to make it better by sharpening existing processes for efficiency, raising the bar on how HR serves the business, handling the complex employee matters that land on the desk of leadership, and developing a team of HRBPs into genuine business advisors and strategic thinkers

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

HR Operations

- Comfortability with employee data, data integrity, reporting, and process design across the full employee lifecycle. You'll use HR data to spot and report on trends before they become problems.

Employee Relations

- Point of escalation for investigations, performance issues, and separations. You'll coach managers through hard conversations and put in work to fix root causes, not just individual cases.

HR Compliance

- Ownership of federal, state, and local employment law across every jurisdiction we operate in. Handbook, policies, recordkeeping, and partnership with our Compliance and Legal teams.

Team Development

- Lead and grow a team of HR Business Partners that serve as strategic partners to the business. Define standards, capabilities, and an operating model for effective support and measurable impact. Help set the standard for how HR support gets delivered across the business.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with 5+ years leading a team
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Deep understanding of federal and multi-state employment law
• A track record of handling complex workplace investigations, and bringing to a complete resolution
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to re-design existing processes or initiatives
• The judgment to know when to escape, when to make an independent decision, and when to push back
• Strong HRIS fluency and comfort working in the data;
  Work Day experience strongly preferred

Nice to have:

• SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent
• Mortgage, banking, or another regulated industry background
• Experience supporting a distributed workforce across multiple states
