Vice President of Information Technology Position Overview
The Vice President of Information Technology is a senior enterprise leader responsible for building and advancing a modern, scalable, and resilient IT organization that supports profitable growth and operational excellence. Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, this role aligns technology strategy with business objectives, elevates global service delivery, strengthens organizational resilience, and enables responsible innovation, including practical AI applications.
This position blends strategic vision with operational execution. The successful candidate will design a forward-looking IT function while ensuring excellence in day-to-day performance. The role is ideal for a leader with the business insight, technical depth, and leadership maturity to progress into a CIO or CTO position within five years.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic IT Leadership & Organizational Design
- Create and begin executing a three-year IT roadmap aligned with enterprise strategy and growth priorities.
- Design a scalable operating model with clear ownership across infrastructure, applications, security, data, service management, and emerging technologies.
- Develop phased staffing and capability plans to support future business needs.
- Ensure technology investments directly enable core business capabilities and competitive advantage.
- Present strategic plans, milestones, and progress updates to executive leadership.
- Lead global IT operations, including infrastructure, enterprise platforms, cybersecurity, and service management.
- Standardize and enhance the global help desk model, ensuring consistent intake, triage, escalation, and resolution.
- Implement performance metrics and dashboards that promote accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Improve ticket resolution efficiency while maintaining or increasing end-user satisfaction.
- Foster a customer-centric culture within IT while maintaining strong operational discipline.
- Strengthen IT resilience through improved vendor visibility, contract transparency, and dependency management.
- Develop a structured framework to assess when capabilities should remain outsourced, be optimized, or brought in-house.
- Lead phased transition plans incorporating hiring, upskilling, knowledge transfer, and risk mitigation.
- Balance cost, quality, speed, and institutional knowledge while ensuring uninterrupted service delivery.
- Own disaster recovery, business continuity, and technology risk management initiatives.
- Partner with business leaders to identify high-impact technology and AI opportunities with measurable outcomes.
- Oversee pilot programs from design through evaluation to ensure disciplined experimentation.
- Establish governance frameworks, security controls, and compliance standards for AI and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate closely with Security, Legal, and Privacy teams to ensure responsible implementation.
- Drive clear scale/no-scale decisions based on success metrics and enterprise risk thresholds.
- Act as a business leader first and a technologist second.
- Translate enterprise strategy into actionable technology roadmaps.
- Build and develop a high-performing, accountable IT leadership team.
- Lead effectively in a decentralized and evolving environment.
- Communicate complex technical topics in clear, business-focused language.
- Develop internal talent and succession readiness across the IT organization.
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including multi-site or global responsibility.
- Proven success in organizational design and transformation.
- Strong foundation in IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and service management.
- Experience evaluating sourcing strategies and managing complex vendor ecosystems.
- Exposure to digital innovation or AI-enabled initiatives preferred.
- Strong financial acumen and executive-level communication skills.
