A leading alternative asset management firm is seeking a Head of Data Platform Engineering to lead the strategy, modernization, and delivery of enterprise-scale data platforms supporting investment, operational, and reporting functions. This leader will oversee both cloud‑native and legacy data environments while driving platform reliability, scalability, and engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Lead enterprise data platform engineering strategy, architecture, and roadmap execution.
- Drive modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy environments to cloud‑native platforms.
- Oversee data platform development across Azure, AWS, Microsoft Fabric Databricks, One Lake, Snowflake, DBT, Python, and modern ETL/ELT technologies.
- Establish engineering standards, CI/CD practices, monitoring, observability, and operational excellence.
- Manage and mentor engineering teams responsible for data infrastructure, pipelines, and platform services.
- Partner with Data Products, Analytics, Governance, Infrastructure, and Security teams to deliver scalable data solutions.
- Define and track platform KPIs, including reliability, delivery velocity, adoption, and cost efficiency.
- Evaluate and manage technology vendors, consulting partners, and platform tooling.
- 15+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Enterprise Data Infrastructure.
- Proven global leadership experience managing enterprise data engineering organizations.
- Deep expertise with modern cloud data ecosystems, including Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, and data lake/lakehouse architectures.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, orchestration frameworks, data pipelines, metadata management, and data quality.
- Experience leading large‑scale platform modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
- Hands‑on understanding of CI/CD, Dev Ops automation, platform monitoring, and engineering best practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both executive leadership and technical stakeholders.
- Financial Services, Asset Management, or Capital Markets experience strongly preferred.
