Transport/IP (TR/IP) NOC Technician
Location: Scott Air Force Base, Illinois (Onsite)

Role OverviewThis position supports the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) by providing services for the GIG/Defense Information System Network (DISN). The role is located in the 24x7 DISA Global Operations Center (DGOC) and involves supporting a contract designed to provide global operations and sustainment for the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN/DISN).
Key Responsibilities- Create, update, and monitor incident tickets using Service Now/ITSM, providing situational awareness to leadership.
- Monitor network events and element management failures on a 24/7/365 basis, proactively analyzing alarms and correlating fault information.
- Isolate root causes, coordinate fault corrections, and support the diagnosis of network issues through testing and troubleshooting.
- Notify relevant contacts regarding network incidents and coordinate with service providers to restore service.
- Restore networks and services to full operation, ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Demonstrate proficiency in DISN functions such as routers, switches, and crypto devices.
Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, and be eligible to obtain up to a Top Secret security clearance.
Certification: Must hold a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent) by the start date.
Experience: Candidates must have demonstrated experience in alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, or performance management. Proficiency is required in at least two of the following: routers, switches, crypto devices, DSN/DRSN, Video Services, Promina, CISCO, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, or Optical Switching. A general understanding of network topologies, both transport and IP, is necessary.
Availability: Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment is required.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in a tech control facility or with cyber transport operations.
- Familiarity with circuit actions and vendor management.
- Knowledge of IP architecture.
- Experience in a Telco NOC or with inside or outside plant operations.
- Proficiency with the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Experience in one or more of the following: alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, performance management, or change management.
- Additional certifications such as CCNA, CYSA+, CASP, CCNP, JNCIE-ENT, JNCIA-Junos, WCNA, CCIE, F5 Networks Certified Technical Specialist, ITILv4, CCA-N, CCA-V, and Solar Winds Certified Professional.
The anticipated conversion salary for this position is between $60,000 and $75,000 annually. The pay rate during the contract period is between $28.85 and $37.50 per hour.
