Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Claims Consultant to deliver exceptional client support to a portfolio of commercial property/casualty insureds participating in our clients' group captive programs. As a Group Captive Claims Consultant, you’ll serve as the primary liaison between captive participants, brokers, and third-party administrators (TPAs). This position will also advocate for member interests by ensuring accurate coverage, timely claim handling, cost-effective resolutions and compliance.

This opportunity is a hybrid schedule, and candidates must be in the office four times per week after training.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between captive participants, brokers and TPAs.
  • Advocate for member interests by ensuring accurate coverage, timely claim handling, cost-effective resolutions and compliance with service standards.
  • Collaborate with clients and partners—including insureds, brokers, carriers, reinsurers, TPAs, attorneys and vendors—to oversee and resolve claims.
  • Lead and participate in claim reviews with insureds, TPAs, brokers and attorneys, providing strategic input on closure plans and reserve adequacy.
  • Coordinate interim claim reviews for high-volume accounts and ensure pre-review responsibilities are completed, including updated written status reports from TPAs and attorneys.
  • Oversee TPA and attorney coordination to ensure timely distribution of claim updates to insureds, ARU staff and brokers.
  • Travel as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Maintain and review claim handling instructions for assigned captive programs.
  • Assist with annual TPA renewal negotiations, including pricing and terms.
  • Support new captive member onboarding, including claims system setup and initial communications with TPAs.
  • Utilize TPA claims systems to extract data and assist with board meeting reporting.
  • Review claims between $75,000 and $500,000 for adherence to closure strategies.
  • Evaluate litigation files with expenses exceeding $25,000 for reserve adequacy and settlement planning.
  • Conduct weekly reviews of new claims for best practices and action plans.
  • Monitor attorney fee programs and subrogation efforts with TPAs.
  • Act as a client advocate and problem solver.
  • Participate in client presentations, captive board meetings and prospect meetings as needed.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of claims handling or consulting experience across workers’ compensation, general liability, auto liability and auto physical damage.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present to groups.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to travel overnight on a limited basis.
  • College degree (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with carrier or TPA claims management systems.
