Rockford Park District – Seasonal role.

Location: UW Health Sports Factory (Machesney Park, IL)

Wage: $17/hour

Reports To: Facility Supervisor

Job Type: Full-time (Entry level)

Performs routine maintenance and cleaning duties to ensure the safety, appearance, and functionality of buildings, grounds, and equipment.

• Complete daily checklists as directed.
• Perform simple maintenance tasks for buildings, grounds, and equipment as specified.
• Carry out routine cleaning: floors, windows, restrooms, carpets, trash removal, grounds, sidewalks, and snow removal.
• Assist with miscellaneous maintenance such as painting, event set‑up/tear‑down, erecting and disassembling tents, hauling bleachers, cans, etc.
• Open and close the building daily.
• Provide quality customer service to patrons, guests, and District employees.
• Use the District HRIS system for all HR and payroll‑related tasks and accurately clock in/out.
• Perform frequent routine safety checks and file safety reports as required.
• Maintain knowledge of safety rules and ensure work is conducted safely and timely, adhering to cleanliness and equipment‑use standards.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience with janitorial equipment/maintenance preferred.
• Some level of leadership experience preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Good communication skills (expressive, written, receptive).
• Problem‑solving ability.
• Team player.
• Ability to work with the public in a courteous manner.
• Ability to follow direction from Facility Supervisor.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid Training (obtainable through District).

• Exert in excess of 100 lbs occasionally; 50 lbs frequently; 20 lbs constantly to move objects.
• Perform moderately physically intensive tasks including climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
• Exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, and hazardous chemicals (with training).

Primarily indoors with intermittent exposure to environmental factors such as dirt, noise, and temperature extremes.
