The Airport Manager is a part-time, exempt employee responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, infrastructure, facilities, and personnel of the Airport. Responsibilities include ensuring safe and efficient airport operations; managing aviation fueling services; administering airport leases, agreements, and regulatory compliance; overseeing the maintenance of airport facilities and infrastructure; promoting the Airport through marketing and customer service initiatives;

and ensuring the Airport operates in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position works under the general direction of the Public Works Director.

Compensation

$71,906.80 annually (28 hours/week)

Job Description

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Oversee the overall management of day-to-day airport operations. Monitor airport operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with applicable federal, state, Village, and industry regulations and standards. Administer and enforce Airport Rules & Regulations and Minimum Standards, recommending revisions as needed. Develop, implement, and maintain airport operating procedures. Manage Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMs) through Federal Aviation Administration channels.
  • Maintain airport records including tenant payments and aviation activity. Oversee management of Airport property and facility leasing, ensuring compliance with lease agreements and accountability for all airport-generating revenues.
  • Assist in the development and administration of the department's annual operating and capital budgets. Monitors expenditures and revenues to ensure fiscal responsibility. Forecast staffing, operational, and revenue needs; recommend equipment purchases; and research, apply for, and administer applicable grants.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee public events held at the airport. Collaborate with internal departments, community partners, vendors, and event participants to ensure successful event execution while maintaining the safety of visitors, participants, and airport operations.
  • Direct the airport's initial emergency response activities by coordinating available resources, supporting the Incident Commander, protecting personnel and property, and ensuring the effective implementation of airport emergency procedures. Evaluate emergency response plans and recommend revisions to improve preparedness and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee the Village's health, safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance programs by identifying, evaluating, and mitigating potential hazards and security risks affecting employees, contractors, visitors, and Village property.
  • Maintain airport communication materials and assist with routine public information efforts, including website content, social media updates, Airport News, and other informational resources. Monitor publicly available airport information and recommend corrections or updates as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Duties
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Airport Management, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible airport or aviation management experience including supervisory responsibility. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • Accreditation as an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) or Certified Member (C.M.) through the American Association of Airport Executives is preferred.
  • Valid Class “D” Driver’s License, required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience using database software, internet-based applications, and other technology necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
