Operations Management, Supply Chain & Logistics, BD Manager
Meiborg Companies is looking for an experienced Logistics Manager to lead and grow our freight brokerage division. This isn't a role for someone looking to simply maintain an existing book of business. We're looking for a leader who knows the brokerage business inside and out—someone who understands how to build teams, develop customers and carriers, improve margins, create accountability, and turn opportunity into profitable growth.
For more than 40 years, Meiborg has built its reputation in transportation and logistics around reliability, relationships and getting the job done. We're an established transportation company with the appetite of a growth company. That means this position comes with something many leadership roles don't: the opportunity to actually build.
The right person will have the experience and confidence to help us get there. The goal is to build a stronger, more scalable, more profitable operation capable of reaching $50M+ and beyond.
Responsibilities Growth & Profitability- Develop and execute the strategy to aggressively grow brokerage revenue and gross profit.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and win new business.
- Drive sustainable margin improvement through pricing strategy, carrier development and disciplined execution.
- Own key brokerage KPIs including revenue, gross profit, margin %, load volume, revenue per employee and customer retention.
- Partner with executive leadership and Finance on forecasting, budgeting and overall brokerage performance.
- Lead, coach and develop our brokerage operations, sales and support teams.
- Evaluate organizational structure and build the team needed for the next stage of growth.
- Recruit and develop strong brokerage talent as the division expands.
- Establish clear expectations, goals and accountability throughout the department.
- Develop future leaders rather than creating a business dependent on one person.
- Create a culture where people move quickly, communicate directly and take ownership of results.
- Own the brokerage operation from customer order through carrier procurement, execution, tracking and billing.
- Evaluate current processes and identify opportunities to improve speed, accuracy and scalability.
- Build repeatable processes that allow the operation to grow without sacrificing service.
- Use McLeod, reporting and operational data to identify problems and opportunities quickly.
- Establish meaningful dashboards and performance reporting.
- Continuously improve workflows, technology utilization and operational efficiency.
- Build and strengthen a reliable, scalable carrier network.
- Establish strategic carrier relationships that improve capacity, service and profitability.
- Oversee carrier qualification, insurance and compliance requirements.
- Maintain strong carrier-vetting practices designed to reduce fraud, double brokering, claims and service failures.
- Negotiate strategically while protecting both customer service and margin.
- Build strong relationships with key customers and become a trusted transportation partner.
- Work alongside Sales to identify opportunities within existing and prospective accounts.
- Participate in pricing, customer strategy and major account development.
- Ensure the brokerage team delivers proactive communication and exceptional service.
- Step into customer or operational issues when necessary and get them resolved.
A bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, logistics or a related discipline is preferred, but demonstrated industry success and leadership experience matter more to us than the letters behind your name.
Required Skills- Significant freight brokerage / 3PL leadership experience.
- A proven record…
