We're hiring a Fit-Up Welder to join our custom fabrication job shop. This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, enjoys working independently, and wants to be involved in the full fabrication process—from fit-up to final weld.

You'll set up your own equipment, weld to print, and ensure quality before parts move to the next stage.

What You'll Do

  • Read and follow blueprints, layouts, and work orders
  • Fit and assemble parts prior to welding for proper alignment
  • Set up your own welding equipment (wire selection, settings, etc.)
  • Inspect welds for quality, accuracy, and compliance with specs
  • Complete inspection and quality documentation
  • Use shop math to verify measurements (1/16”–1/32”)
  • Use hand tools to prep, position, and finish components
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
Role Flexibility
  • Welder-focused: Heavy plate welding using cored wire (AWS D1.1 standards)
  • Welder/Fitter: Take parts from fit-up through welding and final inspection
  • Training available for cross-skilling
What We're Looking For
  • MIG welding experience (fabrication or job shop preferred)
  • Ability to read and apply blueprints and welding drawings
  • Fit-up and part alignment experience
  • Ability to set up your own machine and inspect your work
  • Basic shop math skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Nice to Have (Not Required)
  • TIG and/or stick welding experience
  • Sheet metal fabrication experience
  • AWS D1.1 certification or experience
  • Flux core (cored wire) welding experience
  • Custom fabrication or job shop experience
  • Interest in learning fitting or expanding skills
Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Opportunity to grow and learn new welding skills
  • Supportive, team-oriented environment
  • Consistent 1st shift schedule for work-life balance
  • Safety-focused, organized shop
Schedule

1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

  • Occasional overtime (typically ends by 4:30 PM)
