Position: Certified Assembly Technician Class B, 2nd Shift (Onsite)

What You Will Do

  • Perform assembly, inspection, disassembly, reassembly, safety wiring, part marking, painting and repair of sub and final assemblies with some assistance.
  • Maintain quality stamp authority and complete necessary documents and records.
  • Perform work per written instructions (route card, job instruction sheets, engineering drawing or work order) and utilize engineering prints for problem analysis with some assistance.
  • Develop general knowledge of operation/function of assemblies required to troubleshoot units.
  • Operate and maintain departmental machinery, equipment, tooling or gauging as required with assistance.
  • Learn machine brazing, soldering and balancing.
  • Identify processing changes and method improvements.
  • Maintain current instrumentation calibration and departmental records (torque wrenches, inch micrometer, gauges, etc.).
  • Cooperate with supervision, engineering, suppliers and other support personnel to resolve problems.
  • Interface with customer or government personnel as required.
  • Use required inspection equipment to perform visual and/or dimensional inspection of in-process sub‑assemblies, assemblies, process piece parts to ensure conformity to blueprints, job instruction sheets, test specifications and engineering specifications with assistance.
  • Perform, monitor and set up assemble test and verify equipment calibrations with assistance.
  • Verify job instruction sheets, blueprints or specifications used in the area to ensure they are to the required revision.
  • Perform regular environmental checks to assess temperature, humidity (except special programs like Space Shuttle) and maintain cleanliness of work area.
  • Incorporate engineering changes as required by manufacturing process plan.
  • Calculate fractions and decimals and have a working knowledge of shop mathematics.
  • Monitor department process equipment for acceptance of fluid and gas conditions, temperature and other operating parameters.
  • Maintain program and process certifications as needed for the area.
  • Print process manufacturing documentation as required.
  • Gain understanding of hazardous materials used within assembly and proper handling practices.
  • Mix and apply chemical compounds such as adhesives, paints and locktites with some assistance.
  • Assist supervision with departmental administrative tasks (ordering shop supplies, tools, calibration recall, shelf life of materials).
  • Make proper records of material accepted or rejected.
  • Shift: 2nd Shift 3:00pm – 11:00pm Monday – Friday.
  • Will train on 1st or 2nd Shift for up to 2 months.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • A&P License.
  • Experience with hand tools.
  • Experience with calibration and/or maintenance.
  • Previous experience in aviation or aerospace assembly.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience.
