Head Lacquer Room Operator

Job Purpose: To coat finished manufactured tools with protective metal lacquer by inspecting tools and hand dipping tools in lacquer as required.

• Visually inspects tools for defects; dips metal surfaces of finished leather, wood, and long handled tools into lacquer dip tank and hangs on racks to dry or cure; and cleans and inspects tools for quality and proper coating.
• Prepares lacquer coatings by pouring lacquer into dip tank and mixes to insure consistency is correct. Maintains proper viscosity and fills levels in dip tank.
• Maintains lacquer room equipment as required. Adjusts temperature and ventilation of room for proper drying.
• Transports carts of tools into lacquer room and once handles are dry transports carts to next staging area.
• Completes the appropriate routing sheet and inputs data entry information in a timely manner.

• One month of related experience or on-the-job training.

• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and uses arms/hands to reach, finger, handle or feel, talk and hear for 8 hours or more per day.
• Must be able to regularly lift 5 pounds, occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Must have close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus to work.
• Employees will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, moderate noise levels, extreme heat and vibration to hands.
• Employees will be required to wear hearing protection, safety glasses and foot protection.

• Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple written and verbal instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Must be able to perform mathematical skills such as: addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division of all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Must have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
