Position: Certified Assembly Technician Class B, 2nd Shift (Onsite)

Job Overview

This position involves assembling, inspecting, disassembling, reassembling, safety wiring, part marking, painting, and repairing sub and final assemblies for Ram Air Turbines used in aircraft emergency power generation at the Rockford, IL facility.

Responsibilities
  • Perform assembly, inspection, disassembly, reassembly, safety wiring, part marking, painting, and repair of sub and final assemblies with assistance.
  • Maintain quality stamp authority and complete required documents and records.
  • Follow written instructions per route card, job instruction sheets (J.I.S.), engineering drawings or work orders.
  • Develop general knowledge of assemblies to troubleshoot units and identify processing changes and method improvements.
  • Operate and maintain departmental machinery, equipment, tooling, and gauges, including machine brazing, soldering, and balancing.
  • Use inspection equipment to perform visual and dimensional inspections of in‑process sub‑assemblies, assemblies, and process piece parts to ensure conformity to blueprints, J.I.S., and test specifications.
  • Perform and monitor assemble test set‑ups and verify equipment calibrations.
  • Verify job instruction sheets, blueprints, or specifications used in the area to ensure they are current.
  • Perform environmental checks on a regular basis; maintain cleanliness of the work area.
  • Measure fractions and decimals; apply shop mathematics and monitor equipment for acceptable fluid, gas, temperature, and other operating parameters.
  • Maintain program and process certifications; print process manufacturing documentation as required.
  • Understand hazardous materials and proper handling practices; mix and apply chemical compounds such as adhesives, paints, and locktites with assistance.
  • Assist supervision with administrative tasks such as ordering shop supplies, tools, calibration recall, and material shelf life.
  • Make proper records of material accepted or rejected.
Shift Information
  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
  • Will train on 1st or 2nd Shift for up to 2 months.
Qualifications – Must Have
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • United States citizenship required.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Airplane and Power (A&P) license.
  • Experience with hand tools.
  • Experience with calibration and/or maintenance.
  • Previous experience in aviation or aerospace assembly.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience.

Compensation

Salary range: $35.25 – $40.15 per hour.
