Role Overview

The Shipping & Receiving Material Handler is responsible for the accurate, safe, and timely movement of customer-owned material, raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products throughout Sub Source, Inc. This position plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, material traceability, customer satisfaction, and compliance with the Company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements. The Shipping & Receiving Material Handler maintains accurate documentation and supports production operations while ensuring all materials are handled in accordance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements.

Shipping

& Receiving Responsibilities
  • Receive all incoming customer materials, raw materials, tooling, supplies, and production materials.
  • Verify quantities, part numbers, certifications, purchase orders, and packing documentation.
  • Inspect incoming shipments for damage and report discrepancies immediately.
  • Maintain complete material identification and traceability throughout all receiving, storage, production, and shipping processes.
  • Ensure all required certifications, material test reports (MTRs), packing lists, and customer documentation accompany shipments when required.
  • Verify shipping paperwork, labels, certifications, and quantities prior to release.
Inventory & Material Control
  • Safely move production materials while maintaining product identification and traceability.
  • Stage materials for production according to production schedules.
Quality Responsibilities
  • Comply with all requirements of Sub Source's ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements by maintaining complete material identification, traceability, and documentation throughout shipping and receiving activities.
  • Follow all documented work instructions, quality procedures, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Immediately identify and report nonconforming material in accordance with company procedures.
  • Protect customer property and confidential information while materials are in Sub Source's possession.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and Sub Source safety policies.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform daily forklift inspections and report equipment deficiencies.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas utilizing 5S principles.
  • Report all injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions, and equipment concerns immediately.
Customer Service
  • Professionally assist customers, suppliers, freight carriers, inspectors, and delivery personnel.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing deliveries to minimize delays to production.
  • Communicate shipping, receiving, and inventory concerns promptly to Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Management.
General Responsibilities
  • Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by assisting Production, Quality, Maintenance, or other departments as business needs require.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding customer information, pricing, and proprietary processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support Lean manufacturing objectives.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management. Management reserves the right to assign, modify, or reassign duties as business needs require.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing shipping and receiving required.
  • Experience operating sit-down forklifts safely.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain Sub Source's Powered Industrial Truck certification in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to accurately read blueprints, packing slips, purchase orders, certifications, and shipping documentation is preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, write, and communicate effectively in English to safely perform job duties, understand quality requirements, verify documentation, and communicate with customers, suppliers, carriers, and coworkers.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.

Employees are responsible for maintaining the integrity of customer property, product identification, material traceability, and documented records in accordance with Sub Source's Quality Management System, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
