Position: 2nd Shift Heat Treat Operator

Second Shift Heat Treat Operator 12:00PM-8:30PM Monday
- Friday

Job Purpose:

To operate one or more furnaces to heat treat metal tools and meet the established rates of production.

Essential Functions:

Salt Furnace-Loads hammers on racks/baskets to go into salt pot; salt furnace will automatically transfer product through salt bath, oil quench and rinse tank; operator will remove tools from rack at the draw furnace conveyor station and place onto conveyor; operator monitors controls closely (i.e. salt temp, oil temp, etc.) and cycle times to ensure overall quality is being achieved; and monitors exit of draw furnace to ensure proper unloading.

Face Hardening
- Loads face of hammer by hand into furnace; places tools onto draw furnace conveyor; monitors all temperatures to ensure overall quality is achieved; and monitors exit of draw furnace to ensure proper unloading.

Degrease or remove scale from parts and clean salt pot and draw ovens as required.

Loads and unloads tools into carts and transports to appropriate staging area for next manufacturing process.

Completes the appropriate routing sheet and inputs data entry information in a timely manner.

Additional Responsibilities:

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Education/

Experience:

One to three months of related experience or on-the-job training.

Physical:

Must be able to walk and stand at equipment for 8 hours or more per day.
Must be able to use both hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to frequently lift up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 100 pounds.
Must have close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus on work.
Employees will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, high noise levels, and vibration to hands.
Employees will be required to wear hearing protection, safety glasses and foot protection.

Mental:

Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple written and verbal instructions and procedure manuals.
Must be able to perform mathematical skills such as: addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division of all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Must have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
