Position: Science Communication AmeriCorps Member

YOUR ROLE:
They will assist with Community Science programs to generate educational content and build compelling narratives for public engagement. They will support public outreach and programming. We love to support members that want to try new and creative ways to connect people with nature. Severson Dells encourages people of all backgrounds and social identities to apply. SERVICE TIME: 20 % Field Work- collect data for Community Science projects in woodland, prairie, savannah, creek, and pond habitats.

20% Data Management and Analysis- enter data, analyze results, standardize systems, prepare reports, graphs, and maps. 5% Volunteer Coordination- train, support, and communicate with volunteer Community Scientists. 15% Education- support public science education programming and events. 30% Social Media and Written Content- with support from the Community Engagement Coordinator, create educational social media and blog content about Community Science and related efforts including graphics and videos.

10% Support- support annual special events, assist with minor facilities and grounds needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Education:

Some college coursework required. Data: some experience with or knowledge of data collection practices, statistics, and data visualization. Field Work: ability to hike long distances in all weather and do moderate physical labor. Communication:
Strong writing, editing and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt information to different audiences. Time management:
Independently prioritize tasks, adhere to deadlines, communicate delays. Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Abilities: A valid Driver's License and reliable transportation are required (mileage reimbursed at the IRS rate). Systems:
