The Pastoral Care Leader for Hispanic Ministries provides spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and relational support to the Spanish-speaking congregation of the corps. This role exists to nurture spiritual growth, foster community, and ensure members are cared for holistically through prayer, presence, and discipleship.
Serving in partnership with the Corps Officers and broader church leadership, the Pastoral Care Leader supports the integration of the Hispanic Ministries congregation into the life and mission of the corps while honoring language, culture, and shared worship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Spiritual Leadership and Pastoral Care- Provide pastoral care to members of the Hispanic Ministries congregation through prayer, encouragement, visitation, and spiritual guidance.
- Offer support during times of illness, crisis, grief, and transition, referring to Corps Officers as appropriate.
- Maintain a visible and relational presence within the congregation, fostering trust and spiritual growth.
- Plan and lead the Spanish-language worship services on Sundays and Thursdays.
- Prepare and deliver biblically grounded, culturally relevant teaching that encourages spiritual formation and discipleship.
- Encourage participation in the man worship service and support bilingual or multicultural engagement as appropriate.
- Cultivate a welcoming, Christ-centered environment that strengthens fellowship and belonging.
- Encourage congregational involvement in corps activities, seasonal events, and ministry opportunities.
- Support the identification and development of emerging leaders within the Hispanic Ministries congregation.
- Work closely with the Corps Officers to ensure alignment with the mission, policies, and spiritual direction of The Salvation Army.
- Communicate pastoral needs, attendance statistics, trends, and ministry developments regularly with corps leadership.
- Participate in scheduled meetings, planning sessions, and training opportunities as requested.
- Assist with basic ministry coordination and communication with congregation members.
- Help identify, coordinate, and support volunteers within the Hispanic Ministries context.
- Maintain appropriate records or reports as requested by corps leadership.

- Education
:
Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Studies or a related field preferred. Studies or training in Hispanic/Latino culture, or ministry practice. - Experience
: A mature and active Christian faith with a demonstrated calling to pastoral care and ministry. - Proficiency in Spanish (both written and spoken), as this role involves leading Hispanic ministries, proficiency in English.
- Prior experience in pastoral care or ministry leadership, ideally in multicultural or bilingual contexts. Chaplaincy training or experience in pastoral counseling.
- A demonstrated ability to manage issues, projects, and priorities in a constantly changing environment.
- An interpersonal style that builds significant relationships with both staff and corps members.
- Excellent leadership, communication and relationship building skills.
- This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
- This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position. The individual will keep the Corps Officers informed of all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
- This position is required to do light physical work.
- To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment including a PC and make a public presentation.
