Work Schedule
90% FTE, full-time. Day shift, Monday-Friday 36hrs/week. No Weekends or Holidays.
LocationYou will work at the UW Health Swedish American Hospital.
PositionNurse Communicator (Critical Care)
ResponsibilitiesLead critical conversations that support shared decision‑making between patients, families, and the care team in the ICU.
Serve as a trusted bridge—translating complex medical information, prognosis, and goals of care with clarity, compassion, and expertise.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate family meetings, support palliative care consultations, and improve the critical care experience.
Shape and advance communication practices through mentorship, quality improvement initiatives, and innovative care models in critical care settings.
CompensationAdditional components may include evening, night, and weekend shift differential, overtime, and on-call pay.

Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Required
- Copy of HS diploma or equivalent, or highest level of completed degree obtained. Required
- 2 years of relevant clinical experience in ICU nursing. Required
- Experience documenting patient care in an electronic medical record. Required
- Current RN licensure to practice in the State of Illinois. Required
- ACLS certification. Required
- Bi-annual CPR certification. Required
- Specialty certification (CCRN). Preferred
