Oncology Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist
Job Description
Join a world‐class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as an Oncology Nurse Navigator in the Gyne Oncology Clinic at our Orland Park location.
Essential Job Functions- Initiate and manage ongoing chemotherapy and other systemic therapy plans within the electronic medical record and chemotherapy management system.
- Support the clinical research enterprise by enrolling patients on therapeutic clinical trials.
- Act as liaison for patients, families, and the multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Assess clinical, emotional, spiritual, psychosocial, financial, and other patient needs.
- Provide education for patients and families about disease, current treatments, and management of treatment side effects.
- Collaborate with other Oncology nurses to develop patient education materials, clinical pathways, and quality studies.
- Participate in the Gynecologic Oncology multidisciplinary tumor conference and data safety and monitoring committee meetings.
- Develop and/or coordinate patient education materials, clinical pathways, and quality studies.
- Coordinate and/or participate in multidisciplinary consultations and tumor conferences.
- Registered Nurse with a current Illinois license.
- Graduate of a National League for Nursing accredited School of Nursing with a BSN.
- Associate Degree Nurses must enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire and progress toward completing the BSN within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement toward a BSN degree from an accredited program.
- Have general computer skills and be adaptable to changing working situations and assignments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, and physicians.
- Oncology Certified Nurse preferred.
- Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Provider preferred.
- Minimum of 1+ years of hematology/oncology clinical nursing experience with demonstrated clinical competence in patient care, teaching, and management of patients with a cancer diagnosis, and knowledge of clinical aspects of oncology including protocol therapy and data management.

Compensation & BenefitsUChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. The range is based on a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed annually. Compensation at hire will vary based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations such as internal equity.
Pay ranges for employees subject to collective bargaining agreements are negotiated by the medical center and respective union.
