Job DescriptionBy virtue of your role as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse), you will support the daily operations of a Bio Life Plasma Collection Center under the guidance of the Center Manager or Assistant Manager and the Center Physician. Your primary responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and communicating unsuitable test results to donors.
You will also address medical emergencies in accordance with SOPs, coordinate with the Center Physician and Medical Affairs, and support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees. Additionally, you may serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of standing orders and transport to emergency facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
- Support employee vaccination programs and manage employee incidents in accordance with occupational health and EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support pandemic threat investigations.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Successfully complete FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Have at least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
USA – IL – Rockford. U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $23.85 – $32.79. The actual hourly wage may vary based on qualifications, experience, unique skills, education, certifications, and location.
