Job Description
We are seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. The role is responsible for donor eligibility determination, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results and donor notification, and collaboration with Center Physician and Medical Affairs. The specialist will follow SOPs, provide center‑level support of EHS, and coordinate vaccination programs and pandemic investigations.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis.
- Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions according to SOPs.
- Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies and facilitate transport to emergency care.
- Communicate unacceptable findings to donors and coordinate with Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation needed.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, investigating pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including completion of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified LPN or LVN in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure.
- Complete FDA approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- At least two years clinical or hospital experience.
Location:
USA – IL – Rockford. U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $22.80 - $31.35. Employees accrue up to 80 hours of sick time and up to 120 hours of paid vacation per year.
