Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. Must determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. Works under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician, providing support for environmental, health and safety (EHS).
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent management, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions at the facility as outlined in SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). - Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Complete FDA approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

U.S. hourly wage: $24.32 - $33.44 (USD). Actual hourly wage may depend on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, or other professional licenses, and location.
