ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.
- Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
- Documents according to standards of care.
- Develops, initiates and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
- Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
- Utilizes clinical expertise & guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care.
- Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.
- Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.
- Offers ideas and/or solutions to practice issues.
- Uses innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care.
- Provides innovative ways to educate patient/families.
- Initiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs.
- Actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization.
- Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.
- Engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Actively participates in a minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
IL: 20 continuing education hours per year (10 required for IL licensure) or WI: 20 Education Hours.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- ADN required upon hire; BSN preferred.
- Minimum 2 years RN experience with a certification.
- Licensed as an RN in state of practice.
- Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
- Other certification(s) per unit requirements (e.g., ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP).
- Professional nursing certification in specialty or advanced degree (e.g., Masters). If hired prior to 09/01/2024 may require a Certification Completion Agreement or specific years of applicable experience to qualify per department guidelines.
- Passing the Driver's License Check and/or Credit Check (for positions requiring).
- Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.
- Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Color-blind test may be required per department guidelines.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Occupational exposure:
Category A - all partners in the specified job classification have occupational exposure.
- Neonate (birth - 28 days)

SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDSEssential job functions include walking, standing, lifting up to 100 pounds (or 25/50 pounds for clinic roles), and visual abilities such as close, distance, color, and depth perception.
