Summary/ObjectiveThe Station Manager in Training program is a fast-tracked development path designed to prepare high-potential leaders for managing a Kelley’s Market location. Through hands-on training and mentorship, you’ll gain the skills and experience needed to lead store operations, drive results, and grow your career within our organization. Upon completion of the program, you will be responsible for the overall performance and daily operations of an assigned Kelley’s Market location.
This position leads a team of Assistant Managers, Lead Sales/Food Associates, and Sales/Food Service Associates in delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining store profitability, and ensuring a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment. The Station Manager is expected to model company values, drive operational excellence, and foster a positive and engaging workplace culture. This position reports directly to the District Manager.

Essential Functions- Lead all aspects of store operations including scheduling, staffing, training, inventory control, sales performance, and customer service.
- In partnership with HR, recruit, interview, and onboard new team members; ensure all required documentation and training are completed accurately and timely.
- Provide daily coaching, development, and performance feedback to all store employees; administer disciplinary actions and recognition as appropriate.
- Monitor and manage labor, shrink, and expenses to achieve financial goals and meet KPIs.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures including cash handling, food safety, alcohol/tobacco regulations, and loss prevention. Address operational issues promptly.
- Maintain operational excellence by ensuring shift change paperwork, deposits, timesheets, and vendor check-ins are completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Oversee inventory levels, price changes, product placement, promotional execution, and audits. Stay knowledgeable of current pricing, promotions, and product locations.
- Stock and front shelves, coolers, and displays to maintain a clean and organized sales floor.
- Serve as primary contact for customer escalations and ensure timely resolution.
- Monitor facility and equipment conditions; coordinate with vendors for maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain store cleanliness, safety, and visual standards both inside and outside, including the car wash if applicable.
- Participate in company initiatives, meetings, and training sessions as required.
- Provide friendly, courteous service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
- Operate POS systems accurately and handle transactions, refunds, and register issues per procedures.
- Prepare and maintain fresh coffee and fountain beverages, ensuring equipment cleanliness and stock levels.
- Adhere to food handling and sanitation guidelines.
- Follow all safety and security procedures, including cash handling and PPE usage.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
The environment is typical of retail and convenience stores. Requires frequent lifting of products up to 30 lbs, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, and moderate physical activity including reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
Position Type and HoursFull-time, generally 50+ hours/week, with shifts of about 10 hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. On-call availability is expected.
CompensationStarting at $50,000/year, paid bi-weekly. Final pay may vary based on experience, skills, and certifications.

Requirements RequiredEducation and Experience
- Must be at least 21 years old; operator license required where applicable.
- 5+ years in retail, gas station, or convenience store management; experience with store responsibility preferred.
- Experience handling cash and shift reports.
- Proven leadership, customer service, communication, math skills, and flexibility to work varied hours.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Education and Experience
- Serv Safe or Food Sanitation certification.
