Assistant Store Managers are accountable for all aspects of store performance, including achieving key results, creating a fun and inclusive environment for their team, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities PrincipleDuties & Responsibilities – People & Training
- Act as Manager on duty for scheduling issues, customer complaints, etc., when Store Manager is not present.
- Manage store associates through LIDS Training Programs, goal setting, and regular follow‑up.
- Administer progressive discipline, including verbal and written warnings.
- Engage team members to create a fun and productive environment.
- Contribute to a respectful and inclusive team environment by establishing supportive relationships and adhering to Lids Brand Standards.
- Responsible for scheduling and staffing the store, including calling in associates during unexpected peaks.
- Assist in recruiting and training store personnel on proper operations and procedures.
- Encourage compliance with company policies, procedures and guidelines, including safeguarding inventory, funds, and property.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Lead, execute and assist in selling strategy to achieve key performance indicators, sales targets, and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Resolve customer feedback and address issues immediately, including escalations and urgent requests.
- Ensure every customer is offered Lids membership programs or special in‑store offers via employee education.
- Adhere to current visual guidelines for merchandising, signage, and store cleanliness.
- Maintain a professional appearance consistent with the Company Dress Code Policy.
- Execute operations‑focused company‑level directives, promotions, and initiatives.
- Understand and adhere to Policies & Procedures Manual to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain store technology and equipment—MPOS, Lids Custom, etc.—by conducting daily audits and facilitating maintenance or repairs as needed.
- Maintain store facilities, supplies, and services by executing service requests, assessing maintenance or repair needs, and replenishing supplies.
- Effectively manage cash, including accurate opening and closing of the till, using counterfeit protection practices, and consistent bank drops.
- Prepare store for inventory audits and support audit processes.
- Open and close the store per the Operations P&P Manual.
- Protect company assets within LIDS Retail policies.
- Assist in preparing store work schedules that provide proper coverage and stay within wage control guidelines.
- Accurately manage store inventory: receiving, transferring, price changes, and product counts.
- Organize the backroom to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Execute optimal layout and visual merchandising strategy, including managing window activations, hardware flips, mannequin flips, and seasonal or weekly changes.
- Maintain store appearance through day‑to‑day VM and store actions.
- Execute special pricing signage and promotional adjustments during operating hours.
- Established ability to produce sales results while minimizing loss.
