Responsibilities

  • Act as a key liaison between prospective clients and existing customers
  • Identify and research potential prospects, including cold outreach
  • Generate new business opportunities and develop strategic partnerships
  • Contribute meaningfully to acquiring new customers and strengthening existing relationships
  • Manage and maintain a healthy sales pipeline across various stages of the sales cycle
  • Ensure consistent communication and timely follow-up with prospects and customers, responding to real-time needs
  • Build strong relationships with existing customers to understand evolving business challenges and position appropriate solutions
  • Deliver compelling presentations of the company and its product offerings to prospects and customers
  • Prepare and execute product demonstrations via web sessions and on-site visits
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to develop accurate and effective solution proposals
  • Analyze customer requirements and recommend tailored product and service solutions
  • Own and drive the full sales cycle, including scoping, pricing, proposals, and contract negotiations
  • Lead negotiations and support contract execution through closing
  • Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to inform sales strategy
  • Stay up to date on product updates and communicate their impact to customers and prospects
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM systems for accounts, contacts, and opportunities
  • Support marketing initiatives such as webinars, customer events, and trade shows
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Engineering, IT, Production Management)
  • Required:
    Direct experience in manufacturing environments AND hands-on experience with ERP, MES, or similar enterprise systems
  • Strong technical acumen with a solid understanding of software solutions
  • 5+ years of professional experience, including at least 3+ years in sales (preferably enterprise, manufacturing, or automation software)
Alternative background
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing role (e.g., scheduler, production manager, maintenance manager) with hands‑on use of ERP, MES, or similar systems, and a clear desire to transition into a customer‑facing or sales role
  • Proven ability to stay motivated and effective throughout long, complex sales cycles
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate multi‑stakeholder environments and quickly assess different personalities
  • Experience with contract negotiations, particularly in enterprise software or capital equipment sales/purchasing
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across different sales stages
  • Professional demeanor with strong attention to detail and quality of work
  • Adaptable, resourceful, and proactive with a positive, solution‑oriented mindset
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Based in the Greater Chicago area, USA
