Weatherization Specialist - Human Services

Position: WEATHERIZATION SPECIALIST I - Human Services
This position supports a grant-funded weatherization program by conducting energy audits for residential properties to determine client and building eligibility. The role involves inspecting homes, estimating labor and materials for heating and structural improvements, preparing work orders using a state database, and maintaining required records and reports. The employee works primarily in the field performing housing inspections, with some office-based administrative tasks.

The position operates under general supervision and does not include supervisory responsibilities. Successful candidates must have knowledge of weatherization program regulations, building structures, and HVAC systems, along with strong communication and recordkeeping skills. An Associate’s degree and two years of building trades experience are required (or equivalent experience). The role also requires a valid Illinois driver’s license and several state certifications, some of which must be obtained within specified time frames after hire.
