Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Welder role based at Phelps Pet Products in Rockford, IL. The Welder will fabricate, repair, and maintain production equipment, machinery, and facility structures using various welding techniques. Day-to-day responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints or technical drawings, preparing and positioning materials, performing welds, and inspecting completed work for quality and safety compliance. The role also involves working closely with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime, following all safety procedures and PPE requirements, and performing routine preventive maintenance and basic repairs as needed.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong hands-on welding skills, including Welding, Arc Welding, MIG Welding.
- Candidates should possess advanced welding techniques and precision skills, including TIG Welding and experience working with different Materials.
- Relevant experience in industrial, manufacturing, or maintenance environments, preferably supporting production equipment or mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings, with strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Commitment to safety practices, including proper use of tools and PPE, and adherence to OSHA and facility safety guidelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team, and willingness to support occasional overtime or shift flexibility.
- High school diploma or equivalent; welding certification or vocational training in welding or metal fabrication is preferred.
